Scope

10 cu.

Type

Advanced studies. Common with theoretical physics (course code 53713) and mathematical physics at
 the department of mathematics.

Prerequisites:

The previous mathematical methods courses in physics or
 the basic and intermediate courses in mathematics.
 A first course in algebra is recommended.

General:

The program of the course includes an introduction to group theory, topology, and geometry for applications in physics. The aim is to give tools for studies in quantum physics: Particle physics,
 atomic and nuclear physics, condensed matter theory.

Lectures:

Monday and Tuesday 10 - 12, periods 1-2, in B121/Exactum. First lecture: Monday, September 3.

Examination:

Written examination: December 14, 8.30am - 12.30 noon in Exactum A111 and B123. Additional credits from solved home work problems.

NEXT EXAMINATION:  March 5, 12.00 - 16.00 in Exactum A111 and B123.
