The course will provide an introduction to the mathematical physics of
open quantum systems. Topics covered:
*classical probability and Markov processes
*basics of quantum measurement theory
*quantum Markov processes
*diffusion and decoherence
*elements of quantum information theory
Advanced studies
Prerequisites
Some knowledge of probability and quantum mechanics is useful although
we will summarize the basics of both subjects.
Lecture times
Weeks 3-9 and 11-18 tuesday 14-16, thursday 14-16 C123.
NO CLASS ON THURSDAY 25.2. AND THURSDAY 18.3.
Easter break 1.-7.4.
