Prof. Rendtel teaches Applied Statistics at the Economic Department of the Freie Universität Berlin. He worked for 9 years in the German Socioeconomic Panel (SOEP) project, a household panel survey started in 1984. He collaborated with Statistics Finland in an evaluation project of the Finnish subsample of the European Community Household Panel (ECHP) and EU-SILC. His recent research is on nonresponse and calibration in panel surveys. Prof. Rendtel also serves as Adjunct Professor (Docent) for University of Helsinki.

Description
The course will give an overview under four aspects: (a) Study design of panel surveys, (b) Some substantive considerations on the special nature of non-response in panel survey, (c) The methodological approaches to treat with nonresponse in panel surveys, (d) Empirical examples from the above mentioned surveys.
Target group
The course is intended to fit to studies in quantitative methods for post-graduate (doctoral) students in social and behavioral sciences and economics. The course also can be taken as advanced studies in statistics for students in statistics and mathematics.

Lectures and PC training are given at SSKH IT-sal (Snellmaninkatu 12, 1st floor):

An option is offered for practical training with the methods introduced in the lectures. PC training takes place in the course of the lectures. PC training sessions will be helpful for completing the practical work.
