Download and launch Putty (http://www.putty.org/). Set "Host Name" to lmu-ida.biocenter.helsinki.fi.

Accept security message.

Use your AD username and password to login.

Check that icommands work. Type 'ils' on the command line and hit 'Enter'.

Configure Ida connection
If you get an error message with the 'ils' command, it means that probably your Ida environment is not yet set. Run 'makeIrodsEnv.sh' script to create a configuration file for the Ida connection. Give your Ida username as the argument.
[hajaalin@lmu-ida ~]$
Verify that the file '.irods/.irodsEnv' was created. Your Ida username should now be on the line starting 'irodsUserName='.
