Topics: Alexander-Spanier cohomology, local degree theory of proper mappings, and branched covers.

Prerequisites: Basic algebraic topology.

Exams

No exam. Completion of three mathematical learning diarys (aka. essays, 4-6 pages) is required for passing. Topics and the scope of the essays are individually decided together with the lecturer. The schedule for learning diarys is the following:

Course material

Massey: Homology and cohomology theory, an approach based on Alexander-Spanier cochains.
