This is a basic course in algebraic topology. We begin by giving the construction of singular homology. Then we apply this theory to prove

• Brouwer's fixed-point theorem
• the non-existence of non-zero vector fields on even-dimensional spheres
• the fundamental theorem of algebra
• the Jordan-Brouwer separation theorem and Brouwer's theorem on invariance of domain
