Next Monday, April 8th at 9am, we will have the following Machine
Learning Coffee talk in Kumpula (Exactum D122):

Deploying A.I.

Jussi Rintanen
Professor of Computer Science, Aalto University
https://users.aalto.fi/~rintanj1/

Abstract: Expectations for AI changing the world are great, and academic
research groups have ambitious goals for deploying their research in the
real world. In this talk I discuss the potential of AI in a range of
industries and application areas. What are the main opportunities for
AI, the main obstacles for deployment of AI in a large scale, and what
are the realistic routes for deployment? My viewpoint is that of a
researcher in planning and decision-making, with long-term experience in
trying to apply AI to real-world industrial problems, including
telecoms, energy, and software production. I will argue that the core
obstacle to AI having very broad impact on the society is the
integration of AI technologies in existing software infrastructure. This
obstacle also points to many promising research opportunities.

We will serve porridge and coffee at 9:00am and the talk will begin at
9:15am.

Please spread the news and join us for our weekly habit of beginning the
week with an interesting machine learning talk!

Upcoming talks:
15.4.   Otaniemi: Enrico di Minin
22.4.   Easter break
29.4.   Otaniemi: Roman Yangarber
6.5.    Kumpula: Gregor Hillers
