Deploying A.I.

Abstract: Expectations for AI changing the world are great, and academic
research groups have ambitious goals for deploying their research in the
real world. In this talk I discuss the potential of AI in a range of
industries and application areas. What are the main opportunities for
AI, the main obstacles for deployment of AI in a large scale, and what
are the realistic routes for deployment? My viewpoint is that of a
researcher in planning and decision-making, with long-term experience in
trying to apply AI to real-world industrial problems, including
telecoms, energy, and software production. I will argue that the core
obstacle to AI having very broad impact on the society is the
integration of AI technologies in existing software infrastructure. This
obstacle also points to many promising research opportunities.

We will serve porridge and coffee at 9:00am and the talk will begin at
9:15am.

Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö toteuttaa datanhallinnan ja laskennan tutkimusinfrastruktuurien kehittämisohjelman (DL2021) vuosina 2017−2021. CSC saa uuden, tehokkaan ja tasapainoisen dataintensiivisen laskennan ympäristön, joka mahdollistaa suomalaisen tutkimuksen ja opetuksen kilpailukyvyn tuleville vuosille. Ympäristö on maksutta korkeakoulujen ja tutkimuslaitosten henkilökunnan ja opiskelijoiden käytössä.

Uusi ympäristö otetaan käyttöön kahdessa vaiheessa, joista ensimmäinen vaihe on käytössä vuoden 2019 kesällä. Samassa yhteydessä supertietokone Sisu poistuu käytöstä 1.7.2019. Varmistaakseen ensimmäisen vaiheen sujuvan käyttöönoton, CSC vierailee korkeakoulukampuksilla kertomassa muutoksista uudessa ympäristössä.

Osallistumalla tapahtumaan kuulet mitä palveluita CSC tarjoaa tutkijoille ja miten muutokset vaikuttavat nykyisiin palveluihimme. Pääset myös keskustelemaan suoraan asiantuntijoidemme kanssa ja tarvittaessa saamaan lähitukea.

The aim of this course is to demonstrate to and familiarize the workshop participants with best practices and tools in modern research software development. The main focus is on professional tools for efficiently developing and maintaining research software. Since most research code is developed in a collaborative setting, we will discuss tools and workflows which facilitate this process. Most of the content is also relevant to a single developer.

The goal of this two-day training session is to provide a comprehensive introduction to scientific visualization with ParaView. Osallistu Tikelle järjestettävään TheatreWorks-työpajaan pe 8.3. klo 9-11, Biokeskus 1 (Viikinkaari 11), sali 1401 (Impact Factory).

Työhyvinvointikyselyn purkutilaisuudessa tuli myös haastavat tilanteet esille ja tässä tilaisuudessa on jokaisen henkilökohtaisesti tilaisuus peilata myös omaa käytöstään ja sen merkitystä eri tilanteissa.

TheatreWorks-työpajassa päästään tarkastelemaan erilaisia tilanteita työn arjessa ja sitä, miten erilaisilla reagointitavoilla voidaan ohjata tilanteita eri suuntiin. Työyhteisöteatterissa ammattinäyttelijät hoitavat näyttelemisen ja yleisö keskustelee nähdystä. Ei siis tarvitse pelätä, että joutuu itse näyttelemään, mutta voi oppia jotain! Tilaisuus on tarkoitettu kaikille tikeläisille, ei pelkästään esimiehille.
