13 (% style="color: rgb(0,0,0);" %)Sleep is an essential component of our daily cycle. It helps us recover and allows our brain to relax after a full day of work and activities. We have invited Päivi Vanttila from the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (Työterveyslaitos) to talk about “Sleep, recovery, and well-being of employees”. In addition, the head of the Department Simo Huotari and the head of HIP will briefly discuss on the wellbeing survey results and the wellbeing situation at the Department of Physics and the Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP). At the end of the program we will have an open discussion. A Flinga page will be shared on a later date to enable the discussion.

29
30 (% style="color: rgb(0,0,0);" %)The recreational day at the department of physics and HIP took place in Seurasaari on a lovely summer day (10.6.2022). At first, the wellbeing group divided the participants into two groups, which were given two separate tours of the outdoor museum in Seurasaari. It continued with an outdoor lunch at Art Café Tomtebo. The lunch proceeded with a few icebreaker games organized by us, the well-being group. The games worked very well to get more people from the department meet each other and start talking. A few members even stayed over to walk around the island. The overall feedback from the participants was quite positive.

37 (% style="color: rgb(0,0,0);" %)Now when COVID pandemics is essentially over and we are slowly returning to the usual work routine, it is time for us to get closer together in a relaxing atmosphere of Finnish summer. The (% class="marki76hlkgm3" %)Wellbeing(%%) group of the Department of Physics and HIP is inviting you to participate in a recreational day on 10 June, 2022. We plan to go to Seurasaari to spend a day in the midst of Finnish nature and culture. Those of you who arrived to Helsinki not so long ago and only recently joined the Department and HIP, may find this excursion fascinating! Even for those who have been to the island many times, the guided tour in the island may give a new perspective on history of development of Finnish life style. Many houses are brought to the island from all over Finland and they present unique examples of architecture of different periods of Finnish history.
38
39 (% style="color: rgb(0,0,0);" %)We will also have lunch and some team-building activities during the day, so it will help you to learn more about the colleagues with whom you are working in the same Departments.
