Helsinkifi Slack
Messaging and collaboration platform
The University of Helsinki provides the Helsinki.fi Slack workspace for application development. Slack includes support channels for application development and maintain (for example, #desingsystem, #devops, #kontit, #api-hallinta).
You log in to Slack with your local credentials, using Slack’s own two‑factor authentication (2FA) method.
Data privacy and security
Slack is a shared workplace communication tool. Always consider data privacy when using the platform.
Do not share confidential or sensitive information in Slack. This includes personal data, credentials, internal documents, or any information that should not be widely accessible.
Remember that messages and files in Slack may be visible to others and can be retained over time. If the information is sensitive, use a more secure channel instead.
When in doubt: do not share it in Slack.
Deactivation and anonymisation of Slack users
When a user is no longer affiliated with the organisation, or the account is no longer valid, it must be deactivated without delay.
After deactivation, identifying user data must be anonymised so that the individual is no longer identifiable in Slack. If the user later rejoins, a new account will be created and previous messages cannot be linked to them.
Only the data needed for the intended purpose is retained.
