CyberDuck FAQ

Installing on centrally administered computers

CyberDuck is available in the Software Portal (search for "Install CyberDuck"), and comes with settings for Ida connection.

WARNING: Don't allow CyberDuck to update itself on centrally administered computers. It will cause a loop that requires restart to resolve.

About passwords

There are several authentication systems involved, and it is easy to get confused:

  • you can login to https://sui.csc.fi with a HAKA Id, that is your university username and password
  • once you have registered as CSC customer, you will have a CSC username (usually same as university username) and CSC password
  • once you get access to Ida, you will also get a separate Ida password.  The login name to Ida is the same as CSC username.

The Ida password is what you need to use in CyberDuck login.

Opening connection

Click "Open Connection" in the top left corner of the user interface, select "ida palvelu" in the pull-down menu (see screen capture).

Enabling multiple connections

The transfer protocol that CyberDuck uses to connect to Ida supports multiple connections. This can speed up large transfers. To enable this, click "Edit -> Preferences", see screen capture below.
