Hardware


geo-hpcc is a Hewlett-Packard computer cluster supplied by Atea Finland Oy. With 560 processor cores and over 6.5 terabytes of system memory, geo-hpcc is one of the most powerful high-memory computing systems in Finland. The hardware comprises

  • 1 head/login node
    • 1 2.50GHz Intel Xeon E5-2609 v2 (Sandy Bridge) 4-core CPU
    • 64 GB DDR3 RAM
    • 450 GB (RAID 1) local disk storage
    • 10 TB (RAID 6) disk storage
    • Infiniband QDR interconnect
  • 35 compute nodes
    • 2 2.40GHz Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 (Haswell) 8-core CPUs
    • 192 GB DDR4 RAM (12 GB/core)
    • 300 GB (RAID 1) local disk storage
    • Infiniband QDR interconnect
  • 1 storage node
    • 1 2.50GHz Intel Xeon E5-2609 v2 (Sandy Bridge) 4-core CPU
    • 64 GB DDR3 RAM
    • 450 GB (RAID 1) local disk storage
    • 20 TB (RAID 6) disk storage
    • Infiniband QDR interconnect

Operating system


geo-hpcc runs Qlustar Linux 10.0, based on Ubuntu 16.04.

Data backup server


Data on geo-hpcc is automatically backed up incrementally using rsnapshot. The backup server hardware is listed below.
