Habitat data on Kotka

Last modified by akuusija@helsinki_fi on 2024/02/07 06:50

Kotka is a collection management system for Finnish Natural History Museum. Kotka is very flexible in how data can be stored there. Most fields are optional and allow free-text. All habitat-related fields except "Forest vegetation zone" allow free text. Also different museums, collections and individual collectors have their own methods of digitizing and recording data, so habitat data in kotka is very variable.

Notes

In many cases, habitat data has also been stored in notes fields, alongside other data about the specimen.

Examples of habitat data in notes fields:

  • pyydetty sähköllä | Hausjärveltä löytyy Mommilanjärveen laskeva Myllyoja (M. Hildén)
  • pyydetty lastenrattaiden hyttysverkolla pintavedestä laiturin kupeesta
  • Puomitien oikealla puolella suoran alussa oleva matala H2S pohjainen lammikko
Ennallistaminen tarpeen. "Pääojaa" ilmeisesti kunnostusojitettu, koska tuoretta kasvitonta turvepintaa runsaasti näkyvillä (oja erottuu hyvin myös ilmakuvalla). Samassa näytepussissa (keruunrolla 55a) Moerckia hibernica, näyte tehty
  • kotilo löytynyt Virkkalasta tuotujen tamien juurelta | vähän pohjoinen esiintymä (I.V.)

Habitat classification

  • Most common values:*

    Mkt (1,310)

    • MT (675)
