Survey Statistics in Ukraine
The Baltic-Nordic-Ukrainian Network on Survey Statistics has two partners in Ukraine:
- The National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv since 2007. The contact person is Olga Vasylyk, Department of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics
- The Scientific and Technical Complex of Statistical Research since 2009. The contact person is Olga Vasechko, Director-General
The following visitors from Ukraine to the University of UmeƄ in Sweden have specialized in survey statistics during their visits:

Two Tempus projects in Ukraine have included university education in survey statistics:
- Statistical aspects of economics: Financial mathematics, insurance and sample surveys in industry and agriculture (1996-1997)
- Statistical aspects of economics (1998-2000)
Two textbooks on survey sampling have been published in the Ukrainian language:
- Oleksandr Chernyak (2001): Survey Sampling Technique, 248 pages
- Victoria Parkhomenko (2001): Survey Sampling Methods, 148 pages

Four papers presented at recent workshops and conferences have described the development of survey sampling in Ukraine:

- Tetyana Yakovenko, Olga Vasylyk and Oksana Honchar: Sample surveys in Ukraine: Education and implementation (2007 in Kuusamo)
- Tetyana Yakovenko: Survey sampling in Ukrainian universities (2007 in Minsk)
- Tetyana Yakovenko and Olga Vasylyk: Renewal of a course on survey sampling at Kyiv University for speciality Statistics (2008 in Kuressaare)
The speciality "Statistics" was introduced as a teaching programme in 1996 by the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv and is now available also at

- Lviv National Ivan Franko University since 1997
- Donetsk National University since 2003
- Uzhgorod National University since 2003
- Chernivtsi National Yuriy Fedkovych University since 2004
- Nizhyn State Pedagogical University since 2004
- PreCarpathian National Vasyl Stefanyk University in Ivano-Frankivsk since 2005
Courses on "Survey Sampling" are given at several Ukrainian universities, including

The Scientific and Technical Complex of Statistical Research is a research institute linked to the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine and active in the development of survey statistics. Director-General is Dr. Olga Vasechko.
The Department of Social and Demographic Statistics, Institute for Demography and Social Research, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is also active in the development of survey statistics. Dr. Volodymyr Sarioglo is Head of the Department.
These two research institutes co-operate with teachers of survey statistics in the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, e.g. by providing applied topics for students.
The Network welcomes participation in its activities by additional universities, research institutes and statistical agencies in Ukraine.
