Getting to Vilnius & Transportation Guide

✈️ How to Get to Vilnius

Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is well-connected by air, rail, and road. Below are the main ways to reach the city:

  • Vilnius International Airport (VNO) is the main airport, located 6 km from the city centre.
    It offers direct flights to many European cities and connecting flights worldwide.

  • International trains arrive at Vilnius Train Station, located near the city centre.
    Trains from neighbouring countries like Poland, Latvia, and Estonia operate regularly.

  • Long-distance buses from various European cities arrive at Vilnius Bus Station, which is next to the train station.
    Operators like Lux Express, FlixBus, and Ecolines provide routes from major European destinations.

🚖 How to Get from Vilnius Airport (VNO) to Hotels in the Old Town

🚕 Taxi / Ride-Sharing Apps (Bolt, Uber, eTAKSI)

🔸 Duration: ~15 minutes
🔸 Cost: ~10–15 EUR
📍 Taxis are available outside the arrivals terminal. Bolt and Uber offer more affordable alternatives.

🚌 Public Transport

Bus 88 – Runs every 20–30 minutes from the airport to the city centre.
🔸 Duration: ~20–35 minutes (depending on traffic).
🔸 Tickets: Available on the bus (card payments only). A 60-minute ticket costs 1.25 EUR.
📍 Main stops in Old Town: Gate of Dawn (Aušros vartai), MO Museum(Mo muziejus), Vincas Kudirka Square (Vinco Kudirkos aikštė).
