Front page statistics

On Kotka front page, a simple graph is shown to illustrate the growth of specimen amounts in Kotka during the past 10 months. It is based on date created and shows the number of documents (not units).

To acknowledge the work of people digitising and entering data to Kotka, statistics are shown for

• 10 most active Kotka users of all time
• 10 most active Kotka users this year
• 10 most active Kotka users this month

These are based on the numbers of added specimens (uses automatic data from MZCreator and MZDateCreated).

Search page statistics

On Kotka searches, the filters on the left hand side show some statistics for fields and values in fields. After the filter heading, the number tells the number of distinct values in the field. For amounts under 10000 the number is accurate (see e.g. status in the image below). For numbers over 10000 the number is an estimate (see e.g. taxon in the image below).

Under the filter heading, there are the values that exists in the field. The number after a value is the number how many times it appears in Kotka in the field in question, for those specimens that are included in the search (e.g. "Donated (703)" or "Lemmus lemmus (13933)" in the image below).

In Kotka under top menu "Help", there are three different statistics pages available. Here are short explanations for each page. Note that each statistics page can take a few moments to be loaded.

This pages shows very simple statistics about collections and specimens in Kotka. There are for example:

• By collection type:
  • number of collections
  • Number of resources in collections
  • number of digitized resources
• Numbers of specimens by datatypes
• numbers of transactions by transaction type
• Numbers of specimens in collections that have specimens in Kotka

Annual reports

The page shows the numbers of specimens entered to Kotka during the previous year. Numbers are shown by collection for:

• total
• Type specimens
• verified type specimens
• type specimens with photo
• percentage of type specimens with photo from total type specimens added

Also number of specimens digitized to each collection overall is shown. Numbers are based on the Date created value for specimens.

Luomus digistatistics

For Luomus digitisation statistics, a new page has been created (outside Kotka): digistat.luomus.fi
