Kotka can be used to store and search information about samples taken or preparations made from specimens. Preparation/sample information data entry has its own section on the specimen data entry from. This is a relatively new section that was added to Kotka in spring 2019. It was developed mostly from the perspective of DNA and tissue samples (Luomus Genomic resources collection) and vertebrate subspecimens (osanäyte).
