Process for data delivery end entry for those observations in Vihko that are or will be also specimens in Kotka:
- Observation data is entered in Vihko, where the observation gets a unique identifier.
- Specimen is delivered to a natural history museum together with the unique observation identifier (not the identifier of the whole submission; yksittäisen havainnon tunniste, ei koko havaintoerän), for example http://tun.fi/JX.1139646#4
- A label can be created and printed for the specimen using Label designer -tool. Observation identifier can be printed on the label along with other information.
- At the museum, the specimen data is entered to Kotka. The observation identifier is entered to the field Additional IDs, in the format vihko:identifier, for example vihko:http://tun.fi/JX.1139646#4
- Data is copied from both primary sources (Vihko and Kotka) to FinBIF data warehouse and the ID can be used to identify these as duplicates, either by annotations manually or automatically in laji.fi (not done yet)
