Two adjacent catchments (I = 893 m2 and II = 301 m2) were selected on top of a hill, the highest point of which is 181 m a.s.l. The parent material of the soil is glacial till and the soil is haplic podzol. The height of the area is just above the highest sea level during the deglaciation. The depth of the soil varies from uncovered bedrock to 180 cm. Before the construction was started, the soil depth and the bedrock uniformity were measured using soil radar. In catchment I no major downward directed cracks were found, in catchment II one crack, filled with clay was found.
