Hyytiälä United Measurements of Photochemistry and Particles in Air

The Max Planck Institute campaign (HUMPPA) will join the University of Helsinki campaign (COPEC-10) to comprehensively assess gas and aerosol phase chemistry. During the HUMPPA-COPEC10 intensive we plan to investigate the summertime emission and photochemistry of volatile organic compounds (VOC) at the Hyytiälä Boreal forest site in 2010. VOC will be speciated and quantified at various heights from towers and in branch cuvettes located in the forest. The key oxidants OH, O3 and NO3 will be monitored and their influence on the VOCs assessed. Comprehensive measurements of aerosols, ions and other trace gases will allow links between the oxidation chemistry and the particle size and composition to be established.

COPEC-10 stands for "Comprehensive Organic Precursor Emission Concentration 2010"
