9. Course learning outcomes


You will gain a deep understanding of the scientific problem treated in the thesis. You will gain experience in the scientific method and skills to present the problem and its solution in a sound and scientifically rigorous way.

 In an exceptional case it is possible to write the thesis as a pair. This must be stated already in the thesis plan, and the responsibilities must be clearly defined.

13. Course content


In your thesis you will focus on a particular problem in atmospheric and Earth sciences research, applying the knowledge and skills you have acquired during your studies to solve the problem. Your thesis is a written work that demonstrates your ability to think scientifically, your command of research methods, your familiarity with your area of research, and your aptitude for written scientific communication. Your thesis should contain a definition of the research questions, a review of the relevant literature, and a theoretical, computational and/or experimental section pursuing your solution to the research questions.

15. Activities and teaching methods in support of learning


Before starting the thesis work, the student and the supervisor(s) prepare a plan for the thesis. The plan (form attached) is approved by the programme board.

You will have a supervisor who will have regular meetings with you to ensure that your thesis work is progressing smoothly and on schedule.

Thesis has to have two examiners from which one has to be a professor or assistant professor and the other a person with at least a doctoral degree.
