  • You will learn to understand the specific conditions and requirements to perform measurements at different types of natural hydrospheric environments.
  • You will learn to understand the error sources in measurements and you will learn to minimize them.
  • You will learn the methods that you need when you are planning a field measurement campaign in natural environments.

Completion of the course includes student presentation, essay (10 pages), field work and attendance of 80% of the lectures.

13. Course content

  • History of hydrological instruments and measurement methods
  • Special conditions, requirements and instruments used in different natural environments (river, lake, ocean and glacier measurements)
  • Measurements of rain and snowfall
  • Planning a field trip and work safety during field work

Weekly lectures and field work. Essay and student presentation (individual work).
