Title: Mild Intro to 'topological states' of quantum lattice systems Abstract: I will give some very elementary facts on the topic of the title. Probably I will explain the 'Kitaev' model and/or the AKLT model, and perhaps I say something on nonabelian statistics and entanglement entropy. The interest in 'topological states' is mainly because they seem to be outside the usual classification of states or 'phases' based on Landau theory, where phases are described by local order parameters. I might try to connect or contrast these phenomena to another characterization of non-locality that was introduced in mathematical statistical mechanics, namely Gibbs and Non-Gibbs properties.
