Title: Mind, brain, consciousness, and the quantum observer: A speculative lecture Abstract: Stuart Kauffman is one of the founders of the field of Complex Systems. In his influential book "The Origins of Order" he argued that the origin of the complexity of biological systems might arise as much from dynamical self-organization as from natural selection. He introduced the Kauffman models to the study of autocatalytic sets related to the origin of life, gene regulatory networks and fitness landscapes in evolutionary biology. He has been one of the main figures in the Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico and presently he holds the Finland Distinguished Professor position at TTKK.
