Title: Diffusion properties of some deterministic dynamical systems Abstract: We will first introduce the concept of deterministic diffusion by means of standard examples. Roughly speaking, these examples are provided by deterministic dynamical systems that behave like random systems. Then we will focus on the case where the underlying dynamics is an irrational rotation of the circle. Because this map has poor ergodic properties, it is known that no diffusion can be generated. However, we will see that we should observe diffusion by looking at the system at some particular times only.
