TUHAT COMPILATIONS OF OTHER SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

The TUHAT compilation of the RC's other scientific activities will be linked to the RC's TUHAT project site by the end of the first week of May (week 18). The RC's will be informed when the lists are available for checking.

The RCs are asked to revise their other scientific activities in TUHAT, if they find it necessary. The corrections should be made by 20 May 2011 at the latest. After that, the final versions of the compilations are printed for the panellists and thus further corrections can no longer be made.

NB! There is a maintenance break in the university's database system on 17 May 2011. Therefore, on 17 May TUHAT database is not accessible.

In case you face problems and need assistance, please contact the TUHAT info (tuhat-info(at)helsinki.fi) by 20 May 2011.

Dear RC representatives,

Please, check the publication lists attached in the project site of TUHAT at the latest Tuesday 22 March, before 12 o'clock.

TUHAT project pages as well as the draft reports of the RCs' TUHAT publications data are now available in TUHAT for you to check. Please forward the mail to all the members of the RC. You'll find both the project pages and the reports via the following
instructions:

1. Kirjaudu TUHATiin osoitteessa https://tuhat.halvi.helsinki.fi/admin/ - *Log in TUHAT at https://tuhat.halvi.helsinki.fi/admin/\* (https://tuhat.halvi.helsinki.fi/admin/*)

2. Hae tutkijayhteisön TUHAT-projektisivut valitsemalla sivun vasemmasta reunasta 'Projects' ja kirjoittamalla hakukenttään esim. RC-vastuuhenkilön nimi tai RC:n nimi (älä käytä RC:n lyhennettä hakusanana). - Search for the RC's TUHAT project pages by clicking the 'Projects' link on the left and writing in the search field for example the name of the RC's responsible person or the name of the RC (do not use the RC acronym).

3. Valitse hakutuloksesta haluamasi projekti klikkaamalla projektin otsikkoa. - Select the project of interest by clicking the project title.

4. Siirry sivun alareunaan ja avaa 'Files and Links' -otsikon alla oleva liitetiedosto SHOW-painikkeella (liitetiedoston nimi tyyppiä 'DRAFT_RCname_publications 2005-10'). - Scroll down the page. Under the title 'Files and Links' you see an attachment named 'DRAFT_RCname_publications 2005-10'. Open the file by clicking the 'SHOW' button.

PLEASE NOTE:
- This TUHAT compilation is a DRAFT of the RC's publications - it has been produced for your use only, to help you in checking your TUHAT publications data. NB! The panels will receive a TUHAT report with full reference and  activity data, as well as more clear layout. - Only RC members with a TUHAT profile are included in the compilation -> if a person is missing from your lists, please check if he/she has a TUHAT profile.

- in case of problems/questions etc., please contact Eeva Sievi.

Participative Researcher Communities in the evaluation

Please, notice the following:

FORMATION OF RCs IN TUHAT

1. The formation of the Researcher Communities in the TUHAT database is at present under construction.  The information about the RCs will be a part of the evaluation material to the panels. It is the uttermost important that you do not delete/remove these groups constructed by the evaluation office.

The construction of the RCs will take more time than we estimated. The process is going on well but slowly.

When all the groups are constructed, information will be sent to the RCs. When completed you can see the evaluation project on your project list in TUHAT database.

THE REVISION OF PUBLICATIONS AND OTHER SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

2. The publications and other scientific activity based on the TUHAT data will be asked to revise later than we earlier informed (at the beginning of  March).  We will send an email in March and inform the new deadline for the revision.

THE OUTLOOK OF THE REPORT

3. The outlook of the report form of publications and other scientific activity will be renewed. The new version will be published later in March. The TUHAT provider will prepare a new form that is clearer and more convenient to the panelists.

THE LIST OF PUBLICATION AND OTHER SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY OF THE RC CAN BE REVISED BY YOURSELF

4. The old report form is available on the TUHAT report-site. The title of the report is:

Draft: Research evaluation report of publications and activities of one research community 2005-2010.

You can add your researchers to the report and it will include all the publications and other scientific activity of your group members who are (active persons) in TUHAT.

If the RC is interested in pre-checking the publications and other scientific actity, the old report form can be used for that purpose whenever.

TRAINING FOR THE REPORT TOOLS

5. It is possible to participate in the training of reporting tools organised by the TUHAT provider. The link to the training.

Up-dated news

17 December 2010

The steering group of the evaluation discussed the compositions of the participative groups at the meeting 14 December 2010. The steering group stated the overlap being not significant fulfilling the participating conditions. Because the purpose is to have participants as comprehensively as possible in the evaluation and at the same time equally to handle all the participants, it was further decided to give more time for the corrections of the perceived overlap.

The evaluation office has sent the information about the decision of the steering group to the groups which require change in composition and asked to do that by 21 December 2010. The steering group will discuss the feedback at its meeting 21 December 2010. After this, a confirmation of participation is sent to the RCs.

THE SECOND STAGE
The second stage of the evaluation will start after the Christmas holidays. The evaluation questions will be answered via e-form on the WIKI site since 3 January 2011. The deadline is 28 February 2011.

The descriptions to the questions of the operational preconditions and processes will be an uttermost important material in the evaluation. The purpose of the descriptions is to identify and to evaluate the conditions and preconditions with which the high-quality research and doctoral training are produced.

The updated publications and other scientific activity information of researchers are exported from the TUHAT-database by 31 January 2011. TUHAT data is utilised in the evaluation as background information to describe the scientific and operational quality of the researcher community.

More exact instructions on the updating of TUHAT database will be found on the ”Guidelines for participating researcher communities”.

PANELS
The steering group will make a preliminary composition of the panels at the meeting 21 December 2010.

Altogether 141 Researcher Communities registered to the evaluation. The participants were altogether 6 000 researchers in registered Researcher Communities. Principal Investigators were about 1070 and 120 of them participated in two RCs.The figures are still approximate due to ongoing checking. In the registrations there were, among others, duplicates which have been created accidentally.

The RCs' main field of sciences were:

  • biological, agricultural and veterinary sciences 20%
  • humanities 21%
  • medicine, biomedicine and health sciences 17%
  • natural sciences 16%
  • social sciences 26%.

The RC participated in the categories: 1st category 40 %, 2nd category 18 %, 3rd category 13 %, 4th category 19 % and 5th category 10 %.

The steering group of the evaluation will consider registrations at the meeting 14 December 2010.

If there are shortcomings in the registrations, the evaluation office will contact the responsible person of the Researcher Community before the steering group's meeting (14 December 2010). The evaluation office will ask the participant to correct the possible shortcomings or mistakes for example person’s double participation in the groups. The purpose of the checking is that all the participants follow the same requirements in the evaluation. If the responsible person of the RC detects deviations from the conditions in the registration, please, contact the evaluation office by e-mail: eeva.sievi@helsinki.fi. If the basic requirements in the registration of the RC are in order, the RC can wait for the acceptance by the evaluation office after the steering group's meeting.
