In April and May of 2015, two major earthquakes occurred in the Himalaya of Nepal killing over 8000 people and heavily damaging the Nepalese capital city of Kathmandu. Assistant Professor David Whipp wrote a blog post about these two earthquakes and their relationship to the ongoing growth of the Himalaya. In short, they were big, but not unusual in other ways.
