Applications are invited for several postdoctoral research associate positions in the AtMath Collaboration at the University of Helsinki.
The candidate will have a PhD in Mathematics or/and Physics and an interest in applications to Atmospheric Sciences. The candidate will be able to carry out research activity in the scientific field of at least one of the AtMath groups and at the same time to interact with the others according to the aims and spirit of the collaboration. Candidate profiles with expertise in analytic-theoretical and/or numerical approaches will be considered.
The first round of hiring pertains positions starting between 01.01.2017 and 30.09.2017. Particular attention will be given to candidates with
experience in the following fields.
Molecular dynamics or Monte Carlo methods, conformational sampling of molecular systems, and reaction dynamic/kinetic methods.
Statistical and stochastic inverse problems, sparsity promoting inversion.
Transport phenomena and kinetic theory, homogenization and renormalization methods, PDE methods.
The salary will be competitive in agreement with the University of Helsinki salary scale (job-specific/work performance grades: 5/4, 3326 euro/month, to 5/8, 4020 euro/month).
