The Academic Tree Punching Society (ATPS) is on association of university staff and students interested in and/or addicetd to the indie game Minecraft.

What Is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens. ---minecraft.net

The Goal of The Society

The goal of the society is to

  • explore the possibilities and establish best practices for using Minecraft as an viable virtual reality platform for researh and higher education
  • create an accurate virtual model of the seven Univesrity campuses out of 1x1 meter squares of cobble stone and gold
  • accomplish the task set by the University strategy to make the University of Helsinki one of the top leading best of the best Minecraft universities of awesomeness in the whole world
  • play Minecraft, basically.

Events

Subdivison A ("The Sheep Herders") is holding a semi regular Wednesday lunchtime gaming sessions on the society's server. If interested in joining us please contact Jere Majava for server address.

We have a server!

The Society has rented a server from multiply.co.uk. It costs something like 9€/month and we'll be collecting everyone for 1€/month for upkeep.

There is seperate page for the server to discuss setup and stuff.
