RC-specific evaluation reports have been delivered to the RCs, on January 31st 2012
The reports were delivered as pdf-files. At this stage, they are not public in a sense that the evaluation office does not distribute the reports outside the RCs.
Please notice that the content of the feedback is finalised by the panels and cannot be changed any more. The original evaluation material, which is attached,
at the end of the report is an extract of the TUHAT-RIS as it was stored in the database before March 2011.
All the evaluation reports will be published in April. In addition to 136 RC-specific reports, one university level report will be published. Then it is possible to compare
the indicators and marks with the university and international level better.
When all reports are public, the evaluation office addresses a questionnaire to the RCs.
The RC can compare its marks with the marks of the other RCs. The figures sorted according to the panels and categories are presented in the attached file.

INTERNATIONAL EVALUATION OF RESEARCH AND DOCTORAL TRAINING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HELSINKI
|
The strategic goal of the University of Helsinki is to consolidate its position among the best multidisciplinary research universities in the world. To achieve this goal, the University regularly carries out international evaluations of its research. Previous research assessments were carried out in 1999 and 2005. The international evaluation of research and doctoral training about to be launched will take place between 2010 and 2012 and will cover the period from 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2010. Thanks to the evaluation, the University will be able to identify strong areas as well as areas in need of development within research and doctoral training. Also, structures that relate to research and doctoral training and extend over faculty and departmental boundaries will be more readily recognised. For the researcher community, the evaluation offers an opportunity to receive feedback from experts and to obtain national and international visibility. The evaluation will have a researcher-oriented approach.

STAGE 2 - SUBMISSION OF EVALUATION MATERIALS (3.1.-28.2.2011)
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EVALUATION AND INSTRUCTIONS |
Up-dated news 17 November 2011
PRE CIRCULATION OF THE RC-SPECIFIC REPORTS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE
After having held their meetings in Helsinki in September 2011, the panellists have been working on the finalising of the RC specific feedback. Since it has taken more time than estimated, the feedback remains unfinished in some parts and the preliminary time schedule is thus being revised.
Due to the delay in the process, the planned circulation of the RC specific feedback for the checking of factual errors by each RC will not take place.
It is expected that the RCs will receive the final feedback in January 2012 or at the latest when all RC specific feedback is available in published form.
1. The RC specific feedback will be published in electronic form at the same time as the university level feedback; in March-April 2012.
2. A seminar will be arranged in conjunction to the publishing of the reports.
Decisions for financial rewards based on the present evaluation will be made for the year 2013 onwards. Furthermore, it should be noted that the financial support of the previous evaluation continues partly also in 2012.

Please notice that the panellists do not address any more questions to the RCs. The reason for the cancellation is that the extra questions were experienced to be unequal to the RCs.
The other reason is that the evaluation office promised in the registration stage that the evaluation is based only on the submitted material and on the TUHAT RIS.
We apologize the possible extra work we have caused.

Possibility to check and update other scientific activities,
The draft compilations of your RC's other scientific activities are now available in TUHAT for you to check (further instructions for finding and updating the material in the end of this e-mail). We kindly ask you to check the prints with the members of your RC, and to update the material in the TUHAT database by 20 May, 2011. In case you face major problems and need assistance, please contact TUHAT info (tuhat-info(at)helsinki.fi). After the given deadline (20.5.2011), the final versions of the TUHAT activity compilations will be printed for the panellists, thus further corrections can no longer be made. Please note also that there is a maintenance break in the university's database system on 17 May 2011. Therefore, on 17 May TUHAT database is not accessible.
NB!
- this is a DRAFT compilation of the RC's other scientific activities which have been stored in TUHAT by May 2, 2011 - the compilation has been produced for your use only, to help you in checking the activity data
- only RC members with a TUHAT profile are included in the compilation --> if a person is missing from your lists, its likely she/he does not have a profile in TUHAT (profiles can no longer be created for evaluation purposes).
1 INSTRUCTIONS for finding the RC's activity compilations:
1.1 Log in TUHAT at https://tuhat.halvi.helsinki.fi/
1.2 Search for the RC's TUHAT project pages by clicking the 'Projects' link on the left and writing in the search field for example the name of the RC's responsible person or the name of the RC (do not use the RC acronym).
1.3 Select the project of interest by clicking the project title.
1.4 Scroll down the page. Under the title 'Files and Links' you see an attachment named in the form of 'DRAFT_RCname_Activities 2005-10'. Open the file by clicking the 'SHOW' button.
2 INSTRUCTIONS for correcting the most common errors in one's activity data:
2.1 Log in TUHAT at https://tuhat.halvi.helsinki.fi/
2.2 Select the tab 'Personal' (Tutkijan näkymä) --> go to 'Activities' (Aktiviteetit)
2.3 Search the activity to be updated by the activity's name, or browse the activity list. If needed, use filters (period, type) placed on top of the page, under the filter symbol. Click the name of the activity to open the activity template, and correct/update the activity info.
2.4. To correct the name or the end date of the activity:
2.4.1.Activity’s name is incomplete --> Open template. Make changes. Save. If the template seems to be empty, the text is most probably in another language version. Change the language version by clicking on the flags on the left. Make changes. Save.
2.4.2 Activity’s end date is inaccurate or missing --> Open template. Scroll down to "Period". Correct the dates. If the activity is a one day event, change the tab from "Period of time" to "Specific date". Save.
